Let the New Year ring!

Friday, January 1st, 2010

Aloha, everyone out there in inter-web-ville and Happy New Year! If this is the spot where you are looking for some New Year’s resolutions this is not the spot for you. THG has no real resolutions, but he has some goals to accomplish, geography related goals and food related goals. First let me say that 2010 will be a better year for EVERYONE than 2009 was. I can only express my own thoughts but THG was very happy to see a new year and see the old one put to bed. And okay on to the goals for 2010!

Hey, that looks like a good place to eat

Hey, that looks like a good place to eat

Let’s start with some geography related goals for THG:

1. More local travel and visiting national and state parks. I know the economy is kicking up, but dude it’s still possible and fun to be a traveling “gourmet” and if you have a bottle of good vino to go with your travel-dinner you will can still be having a great time and a great meal.

2. Make some “no car trips”. THG has a road bike as some of you may know (and I do talk about the bike a lot) and I will take a bike trip sometime this year. I figure the spring is the best time for a long bike trip and by keeping it local (Florida) THG will be able to eat local, discover a good story and meet some new people.

3. Travel some where with the express intent of eating something…..crawfish, oysters, crabs, free-range chickens, reindeer meat, shrimp, boar testicles, monkey brains, or the like.

I think those are some modest geography related goals for 2010 and THG will keep people abreast of these goals this year. And now how about some food related goals for 2010!

1. Discover a new way to cook shrimp and chicken. I’m sure there are about 900 ways to cook both shrimp and chicken, but maybe just maybe there are some new ways to cook up these two dietary staples.

2. Go to a food festival or culinary event. When attending a food event I am referring to something like a BBQ festival or the great conch cook off or something of the like. Man it will real tough to accomplish this goal…….

3. THG will find more food served from a white truck (or green truck, or red truck, or blue truck, etc)! There may be some wiggle room in this goal but if I see a road side stand with a pick-up truck next to it, that qualifies as white truck food. It should be a good one.

Alright everybody, I hope this new year 2010 finds you all well, healthy, happy, and positive!
