Thousands of articles have already been written about the final (mostly ceremonial) stage of the Tour de France, and this post just adds to the collection. Well not totally… If you have been following the Hungry Geographer for the past 3 weeks you have noticed that there have been almost daily posts about the Tour and a recipe accompanying each post. Also, there was the guest posting/visit from the Drunken Geographer, who helped enlighten us on liquid ambiance of France and the other countries visited during the 2009 Tour. Hopefully, many of the readers of this site will continue to visit THG after the Tour as many more adventures will follow. The upcoming blog topics are sure to include hurricane season travels and college football tailgating! There will be more recipes to accompany the posts and if you like food you will greatly satisfied and entertained.
But hey, back to the conclusion of the 2009 Tour de France! As the teams ride the last stage most of the standings and jerseys have been well established and the biggest question is where will Bob Roll party tonight. Speaking of Bob Roll or Bobke, there will be a special post honoring the man-myth-legend, next week as he deserves some praise and props for having to work with Craig Hummer on Versus TV for 3 weeks. Accordingly, THG will post his “almost famous Bloody Mary’s” recipe for all to enjoy (hey maybe Bobke will see the recipe and try it out!) and share with their friends. This 2009 Tour has been an overall good tour, but it has lacked some drama from previous Tours from the last 5 years. That’s okay, I’m just saying it potentially could have been a greater Tour with the field assembled, and it is already starting to look like the 2010 Tour will be drama and excitement filled.
I’ll wrap up the post with the jersey results for the 2009 Tour de France:
Overall - yellow jersey: Alberto Contador Team Astana
Points - green jersey: Thor Hushovd Team Cervelo
Climber/King of the Mountains - spotted jersey: Franco Pellizotti Team Liquigas
Youth/Young Gun - white jersey: Andy Schleck Team Saxo Bank
Total Badass Team - overall team winner: Astana aka the Super Team
Hope you enjoyed the 2009 Tour de France posts……and You done, Eat!
