With the crazy and cold weather that has been affecting most of the U.S. it is about the right time to start thinking about the late winter workouts. THG purchased some new pedals (clip-in pedals) and bike shoes for the road bike, and man is there a BIG difference. After a week of nice weather in somewhere-ville Florida then a rainy Saturday, it was time to take the road bike out on a cold, crisp and breezy Sunday. Since I had not ridden in a couple of weeks a choice was made that I’d ride twice to get back in the groove.
My stomach was partially filled with orange juice, coffee and a glass of smoothie. This combination of liquid foods proved to not provide much in the way of energy for my morning ride. The first priority after the ride was to get home and get lunch. A lunch of vegetable and potato soup with sourdough bread was warm and satisfying. However my second liquid meal did not prove to provide the store of energy I needed for the second and longer ride of the day. Doh!
But no worries fish tacos, beer and chips helped to satisfy my cravings and helped put me to sleep. But, I’ll really feel good when the cramps in my hamstrings subside.
